Brought to you by the 'Soaking' Series. And yum, yum, yummy pizzas!

FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday night while Brian and his dad and sister were at the UofA / ASU game, Nana and I were home with the kids. We'd decided to make cookies and watch Prep & Landing. I gave the kids each about 5 mini chocolate chip cookies. When they asked for more, I said, "That's all for now guys."
Well Colton did not approve of this answer and proceeded to SMACK his hand down on the table shouting, "But I WANT one. I WANT one!"
Calmly I say, "Well you might want to remember how to ask nicely Colton. Maybe something like, "Mommy, may I please have a cookie?"
He continued to pout and smack his hand for a few minutes and then finally walked away.
About 2-3 minutes later, Colton joined me in the kitchen.
He walked right up to me and in the most gracious manner ever, smile and all and said, "Mommy, I pwease have a cookie?"
As much as I didn't want to give them more cookies, I really wanted to reward him for asking so nicely. So I gave him one more and said, "Thank you so much for asking so nicely, Buddy!"
He took a bite and then turned away from me.
As he walked away, I hear him whisper in disbelief, "It WORKED!"
So. Flippin. Cute.
Your next laugh is brought to you by 'THE SOAKING SERIES' by Colton Bunch.
We were at the mall, playing by the play land, when Brian announced that it was time to go. Colton, clearly unhappy about this, says to me tears falling down his little cheeks,
"Mom, I'm soaking dis-pointed." (disappointed)
Later, getting into the car as we were leaving the mall parking lot, he exclaimed that he was "STILL soaking dapointed." (yes, that's how it sounded)
Then again, as I tucked him into bed tonight, he told me that he was "Soaking Dis-pointed again."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I can't play anymore."
Oh my...little boy you sure do make me smile.
Dad and Genise came over last night to visit and they brought Papa Murphy's pizza! How have I lived here this long and never had a Take and Bake Pizza before? SO yummy! But what's even better were the three individual 'Make Your Own Pizzas" for the kids.
Let's just say that three kids can make the EXACT same pizza in three VERY different ways.
 ETHAN'S
 COLTON'S
 HUNTER'S
Hunter made hers with almost adult like precision....sauce, spread like a champ, then cheese, then pepperoni- spread out evenly, baked to precision.
The boys were less eager to get started, but with some encouragement, they obliged.
I made the ULTIMATE mistake with Ethan however, by spreading the sauce on his pizza for him. HOLY CRAPPER BATMAN. I came darn near close to ruining his life by doing so. I ended up having to 'scrape' the sauce back off of the dough. He then proceeded to dump, in one fell swoop, his cheese on top of the dough and finished by plopping about 10 pepperoni onto the pizza. In one pile, mind you. But you know what? He was happy with his cheese 'bread.' He knew exactly what he wanted and didn't want and I made the mistake of assuming he wouldn't really have a preference. Lesson learned.
See? Sauce on= unhappy little  boy.
Sauce off? We're good to go!
As you can see, he enjoyed his sauceless pizza.
Colton was pretty agreeable throughout the whole process. He also made his pizza to his liking and ate it like a champ. Leaving behind the crusts for his mommy.  :)
See the crusts he left for me?
Our big person pizza was yummy, yummy, yummy. And so was the wine I drank it down with!
The big finale came with the stamps they brought for the kids.
Stamps on paper? Fun.
Stamps on skin? Frickin awesome.
Now all we can do is hope that they really are 'washable'. Come one, Melissa & Doug, don't fail us now.  :)
It was a great Sunday evening. The kind that make you feel like extending your 4 day weekend into 5. :)
3 toddlers, 1 baby and a pizza
I think I do it, because I just really enjoy watching them eat it. Pizza, that is. It's about the only food I don't cut up into a billion pieces because they're just so cute eating their own slices of pizza "like the big people."
Tonight my mom and I ordered a pizza and as such, that is also what the babies had for dinner. (Oh you think I'm a bad parent now? Wait till I tell you that I let them all eat Tootsie Pop lollipops BEFORE the pizza even got here! Mostly because that too, is hilarious to watch them eat.
They were doing all fine and good until we noticed that Hunter was feeding herself and then feeding her baby. (Who, in my opinion, did not seem all that interested in her pizza.) But Hunter fed her nonetheless. And not only did she feed her (a.k.a shove pizza in her face) she made "MMmmmmm" noises and licked her lips while she did it. HYS-TER-I-CAL is all I have to say about that.
Poor baby. She never saw it coming.
Whose face is messier? Baby's? or...
Hunter's? :)
A "ZOO-per" week!
So, as luck would have it, a few weeks ago, my mom and dad went to San Diego. Unfortunately, for me, that happened to be the same week my sister and all my friends went back to work at Cottonwood. So what's the big deal, you ask? THOSE ARE ALL MY BABY FEEDERS!!! Those are my dedicated, sanity saving, triplet feeding friends and I wasn't go to be able to use ANY of them!! Now, if we were talking a day or two, I would not freak out. Seriously. There have been plenty of occasions upon which I have had all babies to myself and had to do all their feedings almost the whole day. But a week? Yeah...even I don't think so. I hoped to still have hair on my head at the end of this particular week....so I called in my reserves.
My best friend Jen, from college lives up in Glendale. From the moment the babies were born, she's been trying to find a week to come visit and help with the babies, but one obstacle after another kept her from getting here. Well, as I've mentioned before, I am not above begging. So I got out the phone and put out the S.O.S. And who called back to confirm that she would in fact be here to save me from a week of madness?? JEN!! God love her!
While she was here, we did lots of fun things...we celebrated Brian's 33rd birthday in the middle of the night, we went to Target, the mall, Jen taught Ethan how to stick out his tongue as a mimicking gesture, and as one of our firsts, we went to the ZOO! Yippee! So here are some pictures of our fun week with our "Auntie Jen"!
So first, Auntie Jen taught Ethan how to stick out his tongue when she stuck hers out at him...
Then Ethan taught Hunter...
And not to be shown up...Hunter taught Colton! :)
This is us at the zoo! Jen with Hunter and Me with Ethan and Colton
Probably my favorite part was taking the babies inside the "Learning Center" where it was pet the animals day! (Ok, it was our favorite part because it was AIR-CONDITIONED and because we could pet animals.) So each baby got to pet a different critter...
Hunter petted the turtle.
(Hmm, is 'petted' a word? I'm suddenly drawing a blank...) Oh well, it is in this blog! :)
Colton petted the....
HEDGEHOG!
Ethan petted "Clover" the bunny!
Our other tactic to stay cool was to take the babies into the Kenya Water Area to get a little wet! I'm pretty sure Jen and I liked it better than the babies.
Me and my boys :)
Since it was too hot for the elephants to be out, this was the only one we got to see.
Jen made me do it. I'm pretty sure it's for kids, if anything. Oh well.
Hot, sweaty and ready to go home!
Goodbye ZOO! See you again soon!
Another day had Peter Piper Pizza written all over it!
Happy 33rd birthday Brian!
At the midnight feeding on Brian's birthday night, we had him go downstairs and start warming bottles. While he did that, Jen and I put party hats on ourselves, all the babies and yes, even Piper! We came down dressed like this! (Ok,ok, I know what you're thinking..."This picture doesn't look like the middle of the night!" Well you're right. The real picture was honestly so attrocious, Jen and I demanded a retake during daylight, showered, make-up hours!)
And finally, we decided to hit the mall one day. While we were in the Verizon store, and Hunter and Ethan slept soundly, I began peeking over the stroller, making faces at Colton and honestly, I don't know if I've seen him giggle so hard! I literally took 26 pictures of this...looking at him over the top of the stroller!
Of course, we weren't lucky enough to time our outing to avoid public feedings....So, off to the food court we went!
And that concludes our week with my friend, maid, and super nanny Jen! Come back soon!
