35...You don't scare me!

Happy Birthday to me!
Happy Birthday to me!
Happy Birthday dear meeee.
Happy Birthday to me!

Crap! I'm not great at math, but I know that in terms of rounding, I am officially closer to 40 than 30. Aaahh! Yep. I'm 35 today. As Hunter tells me, "Mommy, it's your happy birthday today!" Yahoo. I'll tell you what, so far, I think I'm gonna love 35.

And the best part of 35, is that I'm doing a blog for the first time in a month, and it's getting me prepped and ready for my BLOG-A-DAY in MAY!! (Okay, truth be told, it may actually be a BLOG-EVERY-OTHER-DAY-IN-MAY, but even that would be better than the path I've been on for the past few months, right?)

So let's make my birthday post all about me, and then come May, it'll be all about those Bunchkins. So here we go, 2nd edition, I believe. 35 things you may not know about me.  :)

35. Dr. Pepper runs through my veins.

34. So does a 'No-water-with-whip chai' from Starbucks. I could live on these beverages alone.

33. Oh right. Red wine too. How could I forget?

32. I freaking LOVE to vacuum.  I vacuum my classroom twice a day and my home at least 5 days a week.

31. I survive on very little sleep. I average 5-6 hours a night. (And it's not because my kids are early risers. They are actually late sleepers. It's just that I like to stay awake late and enjoy my quiet time.

30. I would love to have another baby. But I won't. But I'd love to. I'm just saying.

29. I love country music.

28. Favorite shows currently are Grey's Anatomy, GCB, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS

27. I would love to go the Ellen Show someday.

26. My house and classroom stay generally clean. My car is a pigsty.

25. My favorite part of the day is just before I go to bed, when I go in and check on my sleeping babies one more time. I love watching how peacefully they sleep, clutching their own babies in their arms, as I cover them up once more.

24. I do not exercise. (Except for the part where I don't sit still ALL DAY LONG because I'm either teaching kindergarten or teaching triplets. )

23. I'd wear flip flops every day if I could.

22. I sleep on the left side of the bed and I lie on my left side when I sleep.

21. I do my makeup before I do my hair.

20. I have bunions on both of my feet which Brian has lovingly nicknamed Laverne and Shirley.  :)

19. I dye my hair, but never in my life have I dyed my hair lighter than my natural color.

18. I have a BA in Broadcast Journalism, a MA in Education and a PhD in TRIPLETS. :) Hee hee...The first two were true. The PhD, I gave myself.

17. I love to shoot guns. I won't hunt animals, but I love to hunt rocks and sticks and soda cans.  :)

16. I do not tan. I burn. And I have a crap ton of freckles. Hence, I am an avid wearer of sunscreen.

15. I am a 'free range mom.' I am very easy going and do not scare easily.

14. I am always cold. Brian is always hot. We fight over the fan and the thermostat.

13. I can fall asleep anywhere, in about 2 minutes or less, but I wake up at the slightest noise.

12. I hate checking the mail. (Though I do love when I get a magazine.)

11. I find pulling weeds to be therapeutic.

10. I despise honey.

9. I hate giving my kids a bath.

8. I heart cilantro. Brian hates cilantro. This does not make for a happy marriage. :)

7. If we had known Hunter was a girl earlier in the pregnancy, she would've likely been named Berklea or Brooklyn.

6.  I sort the items in my cart by 'type' when I put them on the conveyer belt at grocery and other stores.

5. I hate cooking dinner.

4. I have a terrible memory, yet I can remember every detail of my kids' birth day.

3. I am not afraid of shots or of giving blood.

2. I always wanted two boys and a girl. (I just never expected them all at once.)

1. Never in my younger days did I think that at age 35, I'd be married for almost 8 years and have 3 year old triplets! I love this crazy life of mine!

Ok, The Ellen Show seems totally random. Is that because Oprah is no longer on? :)
And the grocery thing, yeah. I STILL have nightmares about that shopping trip to Ralph's many moons ago. No wonder we're such good friends!
Happiest of birthdays to you!

Ami - I have no idea how I stumbled onto your blog - and I do not have triplets or cranium bands or cleft palettes to deal with - but I always enjoy your blog. It was great to hear the 35 things about you - I sort the groceries too (mainly to make it easier to put way when I get home). So we had triplets birthday, your birthday - what about hubby's birthday??
Hope you had a lovely day

I know I'm a couple of days late, but I hope you had a very happy birthday. I can't imagine that anyone with triplets actually imagined what it would be like when they were younger, but I bet you can't imagine your life any other way now :) You have such a beautiful family and I love it when you actually have time to write a post. However, it's a nice touch to actually include a post about you!
