And there's your answer

So my plan today was:
1. Teach 7:30 - 2:05.
2. Meeting 2:15 - 3:30
3. Leave meeting early, if allowed by loving principal (3:00ish).
4. Drive home to wake up and pick up Bunchkins 3:00 - 3:20.
5. Get Bunchkins changed and in the car 3:20 - 3:30
6. Drive ACROSS TOWN to the kids' dentist appointment. 3:30 - 4:10
7. Leisurely unload the kids and walk into the office right on time, (maybe even early) for 4:20 appt.

Well, I'll tell you right now that things did not go EXACTLY as I had planned. But I was close. And a heck of a lot closer than I thought I'd be as I blazed a trail across town hitting close to 75% of the street lights that exist between point A and point B. (And when I say 'across town' I mean, I literally could not have chosen a dentist any further from my house than the one I picked. )

The kids had their second checkups this afternoon and somehow I found myself flying solo. Sister's on Bed Rest, Mom had an appointment herself, Hubby's working...

"You can do this. You can do this. You can do this," I say to myself.

I thought about rescheduling it. I did. But it had already been rescheduled once before so I didn't want to do that again. And I figured, "what's the worst that can happen?" If they're so bad, then back in the car they go and they don't get their teeth cleaned today.

My mom was kind enough to wake them from their naps for me (it's a horrible job when you see how cozy they look sleeping.) She pretty much had them ready for me as I walked in the door from work. So I ran upstairs, changed into comfier clothes and piled the trio in to the 'Burb.'

Like I said, it is not a joke that I think hit almost every light, which is normally not a problem. unless you're 30 minutes away from a destination that's 4o. Uh oh...I thought about calling to tell them I was going to be late, but I didn't.

And all the while, I'm driving, asking myself. "Why in the world do I drive this far for a dentist?"

Upon my arrival, I'm delighted to find an open parking space right up front. So I unbuckled Ethan and set him on the sidewalk in front of the building. "Ethan, stay right here," I say. "Don't move!" Then Colton and then Hunter. They hold hands walking in and are immediately drawn to the play structure once again. Fine by me, as it gave me a chance to fill out some paperwork.

They were ready for us in no time at all! The kids hung out with the Dental Hygienists and myself while Dr. Bunch finished up with another patient. One at a time, I held one child backward on my lap so that Dr. Bunch could put some fluoride paste on their teeth and look for cavities. (Of which there were none!)
Hunter shocked me with her contentment when this Hygienist picked her up and just held her! I kept waiting for her to scream and she didn't.

The Hygienists were kind enough to keep an eye on the other 2 while I was occupied. They had so much fun! And as we were leaving, Dr. Bunch actually asked if I would like help out to the car! "Why yes! That would be quite helpful, actually!"

And as we walked back out to the car, I said to one of the girls, "Well you helped me find my answer."

"To what?" she asked, with 2 of my babies slung on her hips.

To the question I asked myself on the long drive here..."WHY did I pick a dentist so far away?"

"THIS. THIS is the answer. You are all so helpful and so friendly, and when you travel solo with triplets, customer service goes a LONG way! So Northwest Children's Dentistry, THANK YOU! You have made what should've been a very stressful outing, very pleasant. I appreciate it! Thank you!!
They give you....a new CARS or DORA toothbrush, a squeaky toy, and some toothpaste!
Home from the dentist, playing in the sand..
Colton is still wearing his Scooby Doo Sticker he got from the dentist! He was quite proud.

So obviously, the downfall to going alone was the lack of photo taking opportunities. But, this will suffice! :) Good night friends! I'm going to BED!

Yay!!! Just had our second check ups at a new dentist and had the worst experience. Which will force me to drive an hour for the best ped dentist that's covered under my insurance in ny area for Ava's cavity filling.

Pretty impressed with those triplets! Shocked that Hunter didn't cry for you when she was being held. She must have known her mommy needed her to be extra helpful : ) I was definitely the questioning why you went so far, but now I know!

If you ever need an awesome pediatric dentist closer to the school I can recommend ours.

Congrats, you did a great job bringing them to the dentists. It's a very busy schedule for moms and dads when they have to bring their kids to dental procedures, and it's absolutely wonderful when all goes quite well. It seemed pretty hectic, but the end result looks satisfying.
