Colton comes home!!

So when you have three babies and you've only been able to take 2 of them home, you cannot imagine the heartache and guilt you feel when you have to visit the third one at the hospital and then leave him behind each night. I'm choked up right now thinking about how absolutely devastating that was. I believe I cried more tears during this week than I have in a long time... Poor Brian was probably wondering whether or not Post Partum depression had finally set in. Though not really, because I know that leaving little Colton was as hard for him as it was for me. (I just show it more openly. And by openly, I mean, I sob like a baby.)

So needless to say, when we finally got the long awaited news that Colton could come home, we REJOICED!! We couldn't get him home fast enough! So Monday, April 20, 2009, at a whopping 4 weeks old, one week after his brother and sister, we brought Colton home! We have a very special thank you to give to one of Colton's nurses which I will do in a separate entry because yes, we are just that grateful for her and it deserves its own entry. She was instrumental in Colton's success...But for now, enjoy these pictures of Colton's homecoming!

This is dad packing up Colton's belongings from his big boy tub!

Colton getting ready to get strapped into his carseat!

"I'm ready Dad! Let's make a run for it!"

"Look at me! I'm going home!"

Mom and her little boy! I'm seriously ready to run with him right out to the car!

One last walk down the hallway of the Pediatrics floor...

Headed for the elevator!

Stopping to take a quick picture with Wilbur the Wildcat!

Mom, Dad and Baby Boy Colton!

Heading to the parking garage! Last time!!

Dad's strapping me into my carseat!

Of course, Mom wanted to sit in the back with her little guy!

FINALLY! They're all three together! In my house!!! OMG!

The littlest members of our family!

Hi, Ami,
Congratulations to you and Brian on having all three babies home!! Thank you for sharing all of the moments with us.
I can sympathize with all the tears you shed. Every single time I walked out of that NICU, I cried. It was even worse when the nurses gave us a Christmas card with Julia and Jacob inside. Not only did I sob uncontrollably when they gave it to us, but every time I looked at it at home.
My wonderful OB told us that their time in the NICU was only a small blip in their lives and that is true...now. But experiencing the NICU on a daily basis was hard.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please don't hesitate to call or email me. I will show up at a moment's notice to lend a hand, especially when you want to sleep : )

Love and prayers!

Hi Ami, I ran across your blog when someone had mentioned on Brian's facebook page that you had one. I am so in love with your story and just love your blog. I don't think that I can seriously get to an end without crying. You are a great writer and I feel such emotion in your words. I grew up with Brian since elementary school and we lived in the same neighborhood. He was always the big teddy bear of the guys. And it looks as if that has continued thru him growing up. Just from reading you are an amazing person. I won't even try to compare myself or my story to yours. But I did indeed have some fertility issues. I also experienced the whole NICU thing but this with only having one boy. I Just wanted to tell you that you have a beautiful family and I am so glad that God has blessed you with 3 beautiful babies. You and Brian are amazing parents! Please tell Brian hi for me.

Ami,
I'm Jaymee's cousin, Alisha. I came across your blog when I came to visit Jaymee in February and she told me about you, Brian and your amazing story.

Everyday I check to see if I can find out more about the Bunches of Bunches...each one brings a smile to my face!!

Congratulations on having all babies home and healthy! Even though I'm all the way in Oklahoma, I just wanted you to know that there is inter-state prayers and smiles for family!

Thanks for bringing some extra joy into my life,
Alisha
