Shots anybody? (This time NOT for mom! YES!)

Look at us now! We're getting bigger...

Hunter Olivia
6 lbs. 7 oz.
(3lbs. 2 oz. at birth)

Ethan Bradley
8 lbs. 13 oz.
(3 lbs. 15 oz. at birth)

Colton Samuel
8 lbs. 4 oz.
(4 lbs. 6 oz. at birth)

Ok, don't misunderstand my enthusiasm regarding this latest round of shots...Am I perfectly elated that Brian's and my days of frighteningly long needles finding their way to my you-know-what are over? Oh yes! But I have a new found empathy for Brian who always SAID it was painful to have to give me shots (whatever)...now, I might have to agree...having to watch my three little tiny Bunchkins receive their first round of immunizations might have actually been worse. :( Not because I shy away from needles, not because I cry, (I'm tough remember. I like shark attacks and military shows). But for the same reason I turn beetles over when I see them flailing on their backs and the same reason I "capture" spiders from my house and "relocate" them to the outdoors rather than squashing them, despite the fact that I was bitten by a brown recluse spider on my butt 5 years ago...it's that empathetic bone in my body that simply understands the torture and fright my babies were going to go through....
Yep. They're 2 months old. (Actually, they're even a little older than that now) Ten weeks today, in fact! So they had to go back to the doctor last Thursday for their 2 month checkup and their shots...I'll be honest, it kind of felt a little like taking a litter of puppies to the vet for their shots... :) Brian and I of course did not TELL the babies that that's what they were in for! We simply told them they were going to visit all their nice friends who work at Catalina Pediatrics and their super fun doctor, Dr. Goldberg! And of course, we might have reminded them that they'd get to see the dinosaur in the fish tank again. :)

So all in all, their visit went very well! They are all growing very well! They've all more than doubled their birth weights which is wonderful! We need to work on stretching their necks which will in turn help to "even out" their mishapen heads. So if you come to our house don't be surprised if I make you stand on the babies' left sides and do something exciting to make them look left! :)

Other than that, we saved the shots for the very end....aside from the mean mother in me that was very concerned with capturing their misery on film, (hello, our whole lives revolve around "blog-worthy" events...has anyone ever seen that movie with Jim Carrey, "THE TRUMAN SHOW"? Kinda feels like that. Our lives are intended to entertain others) I was a good mommy and stroked their little heads and held in those pacifiers while the babies cursed the world as those little needles poked their mildly chubby thighs. (Ok, let's be honest, Ethan's might be more than mildly chubby....) But once they got their Snoopy Bandaids and a hug and kiss from mom and dad, they were ok. :) We won't tell them there's more coming in 2 more months...

Dr. Goldberg and Pudge...er, I mean, Ethan :)

Dr. G and Peanut (Hunter)

The Boys!

And then began the shots.....
Big brother Colton went first

Poor baby...

Next goes Hunter...

One snoopy bandaid...you're halfway done little girl!

But clearly not done fast enough! That's her trademark wildcat yell right there!

And last goes Ethan..."hmm this doesn't taste very good..."

" Oh well. I don't know what you other babies were crying about, this isn't so bad."

"I'm tough...I'm tough..."

"No I'm not!!!!"
"Someone please give me my binky...I've had a rough day."

Colton in the recovery chair (his carseat) :)

As any kid knows...bandaids make it better :)

Till next time..... :)

3 Cottonwood Coyotes in the Making!

Ok, so Thursday, May 21, it was decided that the babies HAD to go to Cottonwood to meet the people who'd been rooting for them the entire time they were growing in mom's belly and, let's be honest, even before that! Some of their biggest supporters are right here at Cottonwood, a place very dear to mom's heart and a place I miss tremendously! And my kindergartners who had been waiting SO patiently finally got a chance to meet the babies!

I'll just apologize up front to the administration about the decrease in productivity at Cottonwood on this day...(though it would appear that they also found their way to baby town...) Much of the staff had taken up their new posts as baby holders in the library. I just hope no one missed their duty, left students unattended, etc. :) The bottom line is, the babies had a WONDERFUL time meeting ALL their Cottonwood Aunties and they will continue to practice their howling so that they too can be Cottonwood Coyotes one day!

A big thank you to Jen Corbelli! She came along with me to help carry babies in car seats since I obviously can't carry all three! THANK YOU JEN!

Of course it has to be raining on this day...my mom apparently thought it was snowing, thus the hats :) It's ok, Mom, they are cute, and thanks for helping us all get dressed!
Hunter putting on her pretty girl clothes, and yes, we did a polish change on her toes so she would be freshly pedicured!

Seriously, the expressions on the adults is just priceless. What is it about babies that turns us all to mush? This was before I gave the "go ahead" to take them out of their car seats! So let's see who we've got here...L to R....Ms. Bryson, Dawn, Molllie, Pattie, Kristine in the background, Lisa

Again, half of Deb Gunderson, Deborah, Dawn, Bobbi, Mollie, Kristine, Patti with an i, Lisa

Hooray! The babies have been unleashed! Wasn't it nice of me to have triplets so no one has to wait too long to hold a baby?!

Colton is kissing up to the asst. to the principal, Bobbie here!

Stephanie, Mollie and Ethan, and Deborah

Dawn, Patti and Hunter

What a troop! See what I mean about the decrease in productivity here? Seriously! Does anyone have work to do??

Shorty and Colton, Deborah and Ethan, Nicole and Kristine

Ahh, it's like those rocking chairs were put there just for us! Ethan is in heaven with Deb, and Colton is checking out Kristine!

Soo Sweet! Debby and Ethan! He's dreaming about powerschool. :)

Kristine is doing the LSF (Letter Sound Fluency test) with Colton :)

Colton and Jill....this guy could not have been more alert this day! He was fascinated with the bright lights and all the things around him!

I love you Jill!
And joining our baby party here is Cathy with Ethan, and Jenny, Mary with Hunter, & Charlotte (and Jen C.) in front
Colton is trying to convince Jenn that he doesn't need a behavior plan...yet.

Getting Ready for Mother's (and Grandmother's) Day!

Ok, so this 2nd month of life has been adventurous. Mary and I decided that for mother's day, we would attempt to take a "group photo" of my mom's kids and grandkids. But frankly, we've exhausted every photo spot in our house. So we wrangled Brian into driving us to Lakeside Park to take some photos with a NICE background and GREEN grass! (We only grow the brown kind at our house. ) :) So here are some of the photos we ended up with! Brian was not expecting to be in the pictures...he was our designated photographer....hence the Dr. Pepper T-Shirt....but frankly, it's only fitting that he wear that shirt since the babies were practically fed Dr. Pepper through the umbilical cord! :)

This next photo is of the gift the babies made for both their grandmas! They worked very hard to imprint their little feeties in concrete to make a Garden Stepping Stone! Shockingly enough, not one of them even made so much as a peep during the whole process! I think they liked the texture of the wet, goopy cement on their feet!

These are the gifts that my babies and Brian got me. One is a mug with their adorable little faces. And Brian (who has apparently been hiding the fact that he DOES have a creative bone in his body) made me a collage of all our babies' many parts...noses, eyes, cheeks, fingers, toes, lips, etc. It's so cute. Furthermore, the babies wrote Mommy a love letter! (Well, they told Daddy what to say because they don't know how to type yet.) :) If I get around to it, I just may post their letter! It successfully made me cry, and then my sister, mom and dad! Chances are, if I every get it posted, you'll want to have a tissue nearby. :)
